Our yellow buckeye tree is a staging area for birds trying to slip into the feeders. The day after Christmas it was around 25 degrees with northerly breeze, but the sun was unusually unobscured by seasonal clouds. Buckeyes have buds all winter, a quirk which I'm certain has some biological explanation.
